TRUST SENIOR HOUSE OFFICER IN UROLOGY WITH SURGICAL ON CALLS

Mayday is an Acute General Hospital with 690 beds. It is the main District Hospital for Croydon with 24 hour Accident and Emergency Service, providing major accident cover.

The hospital provides facilities for all the major specialities, in addition to specialist functions provided include a Cardiac Unit, Child Assessment Unit and Infectious Disease Unit. The Pathological Laboratory provides services for the District and also for the Environmental Health Services. The hospital also accommodates the Croydon Eye Unit and the Croydon Chest clinic, and provides Audiometry, Speech Therapy and EEG Services to other hospitals within the District. There is a Psychiatric Clinic staffed by Warlingham Park Hospital with an adjacent Ward Unit providing bed for patients in need of treatment.

Duties of the Post

The post holder is responsible to Mr Raju and Mr Das but must also work with other team members.

Duties of the Senior House Officer include preparing patients for theatre and attendance at operating sessions, out-patient clinics and pre assessment clinics. You will also be responsible for in-house management of patients in liaison with FY1s You are welcome to attend Endoscopy sessions to learn more about Flexible cyst copies. You are also responsible for teaching FY1s and participating in general teaching.

The SHO in Urology participates in the General Surgery On -Call Rota and will have to attend to all surgical emergencies whilst On-Call.

Annual Leave

Annual Leave entitlement is part of the full shift rota and usually falls after ON-Call duties.

Study Leave

Study Leave allowance is 10days for the 6months and £375. Six weeks notice needs to be given before any study leave can be taken. All applications of study leave must be notified to the business manager.
